How important is pre-literacy?

During childhood, human beings have a greater capacity to acquire new skills. This happens because our brain has more intense neuroplasticity, which ensures greater ease of development.
Let's take a two-year-old baby as an example: can you imagine how much learning you have already acquired to finally be able to take your first quick steps and have a vocabulary of approximately 200 words? Childhood is a crucial period for human development, as it provides essential foundations for the acquisition of other knowledge.
Ok, but what does this have to do with pre-literacy? Everything!
Pre-literacy occurs during childhood, precisely at the time when we are most susceptible to learning, and it is what prepares the child for literacy. Motor development - balance, laterality, pincer movement, etc. - it is the starting point for acquiring greater control of your body when sitting down to concentrate on reading or picking up paper to write a text.
However, teaching children to run, jump and crouch is no less important than teaching concentration, new vocabulary and knowledge of letters. Remember that we must take advantage of this ease of learning so that skills that predict literacy can be developed, such as phonological awareness. Therefore, learning in early childhood must be well managed so that, when the time for literacy arrives, we can form good readers.
Therefore, do not underestimate the child's learning. Always keep in mind that childhood is the basis for the learning that we will acquire throughout our lives.
